Bonnie grew up on the south shore of Long Island and spent childhood summers on Jones Beach, a place where she always felt relaxed and happy. Family and home are Bonnie's true passions - she lives with her husband of over 40 years on Long Island's north shore, and has three grown children and four adorable grandsons.
Bonnie has always sought refuge by the surf, frequently traveling to Naples, Florida during New York winters. In the summer of 2023, she and her husband visited Long Beach on a whim just to walk the boardwalk and take in the sun. She spent the day admiring the beach and wondering what it would be like to have a place overlooking the beach. An avid bike rider and walker, she was struck by the beauty and bustle of all the sundrenched activity. Three days later, they were in contract to buy what is now their beachfront co-op, and they've been enjoying the beautiful Long Beach shore in their new home away from home ever since.
Although Bonnie minored in Art in college, she chose to pursue a professional career, first as an attorney and then in the Health & Fitness industry as a personal trainer and a Restorative Cancer Exercise Specialist. She has since rediscovered her passion for painting and now has the time to create a variety of paintings, ranging from dynamic geometric abstracts to restful seascapes.
When redecorating a room a few years ago, and looking for a piece of abstract art but not finding one that appealed to her, she instead decided to create her own. Although she had not previously painted in this genre, she created a bold, colorful piece in a unique style that friends and family admired. They were soon requesting works that complemented their own decor (the geometric style is particularly customizable). And so began her renewed love of painting, and loveBJOart was born. Her later interest in seascapes was naturally inspired by the views of the beach outside her Long Beach windows.
Bonnie hopes to bring the joy she gets from her painting to others. Having now discovered the LBAL, she looks forward to sharing her experiences and her affinity for painting with the welcoming Long Beach community.
