I’ve painted just about my entire life. My first oil class was at a local Y in Brooklyn; my first museum going experiences were with my father visiting the Met in NYC. I originally worked in a representational fashion doing landscapes and the figure. As my ideas matured, and influences from thoughts and ideas were felt, I began to create in a non-objective style. I enjoy the process of changing space, balancing colors, adding papers and/ or photographic imagery to a piece. Success in a piece for me is if it “works”: if a balance is achieved between the parts.
I refer the viewer to my website: www.carolyndesoucey.com to see more of my work and hope that the biography and Artist’s Statement are read.
