Kathryn Lee Ramsey has had a lifelong fascination with color and light. Some of her first memories are of sitting on her grandmother’s lap admiring and touching the beautiful amethyst beads her grandmother wore with love and great dignity. In high school she was given her first camera and spent hours taking photos to capture the play of light on the world and on the people around her. In college, drawing, collage and printing became a passion, and throughout her life she has continued to find great delight in the process of creating unique works of art.

She raised two daughters, Leisa Thursland and Karen Chandross, while living in Long Beach and has always been active in the community. Presently, she is a member of the LBNY-ARTS Council and the Long Beach Art League and teaches jewelry making and collage classes at the Long Beach Youth and Family Services Center. In addition, she sells her art and crafts during the summer at Arts in the Plaza.
