My formal training started at the High School of Art and Design in Manhattan. Then, after earning my BFA at Pratt Institute I went on to explore the commercial side of art as an illustrator and then as a design Director in textiles and home furnishings. Throughout my experience in the commercial world, I never stopped painting. In whatever time I could find I continued my fine art studies and explored my craft.
A feeling of presence and an acceptance of the surroundings, at different levels of realism and abstraction, is at the nature of my current work. The goal is to create a “sense of place” in which to share an impression of mood and atmosphere along with an appreciation of the subject.
Using memories of my travels, along with photos and sketches I create an interpretation of a landscape, a scene, or a space defined by emotional expression.
I have shown in galleries on Long Island and Manhattan. I am proud and glad to be a member of the Long Beach Art League.
